Ingredients for making fried Modak:
- a bowl of coconut
- a cup of jaggery
- 2 spoons ghee
- Half teaspoon cardamom powder
For dough:
- a bowl of flour
- 2 spoons ghee
- Salt as per taste
- oil for frying
Method to make Fried Modak:
Fried Modak: First of all grate the coconut and take it out in a bowl. Now place a pan on the gas and add 2 spoons of ghee in the pan and now add the grated coconut.
And now roast the coconut until it becomes light golden. After the coconut becomes golden, add jaggery and mix well. Now keep the gas on medium and let the jaggery melt. After the jaggery melts, cook the mixture until it thickens.
And now after the mixture becomes thick, add half a spoon of cardamom powder and mix it well and now turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down.
For dough:
Now first of all sift the flour and put it on a plate, add ghee and salt to the flour, and knead the dough until it becomes soft.
Keep in mind that the dough should be completely soft, otherwise, the Modaks will not be good, hence After kneading the dough, keep it covered for 10 minutes.
Method to make Modak:
And now knead the dough once again for 2 minutes. Now take lemon-sized dough from the dough, place it on a rolling pin, and roll it out thinly with a rolling pin. Keep in mind that you have to roll the dough thinly. If your rolling pin is thick then use a modal. It won’t taste good, so roll it out thinly.
Now after rolling, take one spoonful of coconut and jaggery mixture and place it on the rolled-out thin puri, and start making pleats with your fingers and thumb.
And now after adding all the pleats, and making a small angle on the top side, our model is ready.
And now place the pan on the gas pour oil for frying in the pan and let the oil heat. After the oil is heated, keep the gas on medium put the prepared Modaks, and fry till they turn golden.
It will take at least 15 minutes to fry the Modaks. Fry the Modaks until they turn golden or until they become crisp. After frying the Modaks, take them out on a plate.
